Gwent Police is currently responding to a report of a serious road traffic collision, involving a HGV lorry on the Prince of Wales Bridge.
Gwent Police officers, along with South Wales Ambulance Service, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Highways and the Heli-med are currently on the scene.
At 10.30am, Gwent Police received a report that a lorry had driven down the embankment and onto land alongside the M4 Westbound at the end of the Prince of Wales Bridge. We currently do not believe that any other motorists have been injured.
The M4 westbound road is closed and we anticipate it will be closed all day and into the evening. We will update you as soon as we have more information on this.
We are advising motorists to avoid the area due to heavy congestion.
