Inspector Jason White
Your latest Blog from your local Inspector, Jason White, who covers the Blackwood and Risca areas
On a more local level, I am keeping an eye on vehicle crime within the section after it experienced an increase during the middle of April. Our colleagues in Bargoed experienced similar problems whereby vehicles were being targeted and diesel stolen. Through targeted evening and night time patrols we have seen this type of crime stop but owners of commercial vehicles need to be aware of the need for vigilance.
You may recall last month how a 41 year old man and 26 year old woman were charged and remanded following a shoplifting spree in the Risca area. Since that time both individuals were released from court and started where they left off by committing a further four offences of theft. Both have since been further arrested, charged and remanded until they appear in court on 11th May. I’m hoping for a positive result on this occasion.
Both grass and refuse fires continue to be a hot topic (pardon the pun) for the section with the local team continuing to patrol areas that have been targeted recently. As recently as last week a 31 year old man was arrested for lighting a grass fire in the Argoed area.
By way of an update on the incidents of young people involved in anti-social behaviour in the Cwmcarn area, my Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer (CADRO) will be discussing the behaviour of six problematic youngsters with other partner agencies at a meeting this week with a view to obtaining a group Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction on those involved. This type of Injunction has never been introduced in the area to date, but if successful will assist the team in ensuring a greater quality of life in the community.
Finally I’d like to thank all of you who participated in the ‘Your Voice’ surveys, the deadline of which has now passed. All of those prominent issues identified within your respective wards are now being collated and analysed and will be published in the near future.
Thanks for taking the time in reading this blog. Have a safe and enjoyable month!
