We are appealing for information following two burglaries in the Duffryn area of Newport.

Sometime between the Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th June suspects forced a ground floor window to gain entry to a house on Manor Way in Newport while the victim was on holiday. They stole a large quantity of jewellery with a high monetary value and a white Suzuki Celerio car.

Between Avenue in Newport was also broken into.  The suspects gained entry by forcing a ground floor window while the victims slept and they took an Apple MacBook in a pink case and a Fitbit Blaze watch.

DC Glyn Mason said “I would like to remind people to take extra precautions during these warmer months.  Always ensure you lock your doors and fully close all downstairs windows when you go out or go to bed – you might think they are secure left in the air vent position however this will allow intruders with tool to access the locking points making it easy for them to gain entry.  I would also like to reiterate a message we put out recently reminding people take their car keys with them when they go up to bed or take them out with you even if you aren’t taking the car.”

If anyone has any information, please contact us on 101 quoting logs 87 28/06/2017 and 32 28/06/17.
