Fuel theft and assault in Brynmawr – did you see anything?

We’re appealing for information following reports of a theft of fuel, dangerous driving and assault in Brynmawr. The incident took place at around 11.10am on Monday 23rd September 2019. A car attempted to drive off from a petrol garage on Blaina Road in Brynmawr without paying for fuel.

A member of staff approached the vehicle, a black Ford Focus, and spoke to the male drive and female passenger before the driver drove at the employee, knocking him onto the bonnet of the vehicle. The car drove for a short distance before the employee fell to the floor.

The  employee was not seriously injured and he went to hospital with bruising to his hand.

The car drove off along Chapel Road in the direction of Nantyglo.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding this and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may know who the driver was.
